Isidro Lopez - vocals and alto sax with accompaniment by his orchestra - unless otherwise noted.
Isidro "El Indio" Lopez (his father was a full-blooded Apache Mescalero from New Mexico) is one of the founding "fathers" of Tejano Music. He began to record in the late 1940s with Narciso Martinez, Tony De La Rosa, and Eugenio Gutierrez's Orchestra for the pioneering, regional IDEAL recording company. His appealing, smooth yet emotional voice, charismatic personality, and superb saxophone work soon made him very popular and encouraged him to front his own, distinctly hot Tejano dance orchestra. Isidro Lopez in no time became the brightest star on the emerging Tejano music scene. This CD contains 15 more early hits recorded at the height of his long career.
