REVIEW These were Chenier's first recordings in several years and the backing is very simplemostly in a Zydeco vein mixing hot dance tempos with waltzes, with brother Cleveland on washboard. Several selections feature a supportive band including the fine pianist Elmore Nixon and guitarist Cleveland Keyes`Hot Rod' which recently served as the title track for son C. J.'s most recent album, is a real strong instrumental. Clifton also plays harmonica on a couple of blues - the last 6 tracks derive from the (original LP) `Black Snake Blues.'(Ron Weinstock Living Blues) |
